Chasing the dream!

So where have I been?  Making some tremendous life changes.  My husband and I own our business in the city.  My job requires a lot of travel, and a long commute into the city.  As much as I love it, it is not the best situation for two small children.  Especially if I want to spend a lot of time watching said children grow up.  So I'm chasing the dream I've been keeping in my heart for much of my life.  Opening a shop of my own.  Right in our little village.

So about that Renegade Craft Fair...

So here are some of my goodies.  I had too much fun at the Reprot Depot booth.  They were selling pieces of fabric by the pound, which wound up being about $4 per yard.  I snagged up some Heather Ross prints and some cute space and cowboy fabric.  The very cute thermal is for my son and it is by ferdinand.  I love everything about it.  Can anything possibly be cuter than that squirrel playing a snare?  Only my son in it!!  And for myself a circle skirt pattern by Betsy Ross.  I need to tackle that soon.

And Mr. Pickles.  He lives in the car.  Lucia needed him oh so desperately at the fair and then dumped him like an old pickle that very day.  I think I like him the most.

Vintage cards

I found a scrapbook full of old greeting cards at an estate sale today.  I love the cute graphics and am thinking of all sorts of ways to use them.  I pulled out all of the "one years old" cards since Toby will be one so very soon!!  I want to figure out a way to incorporate them into some part of his little birthday celebration.  I think they are little "girly" for a full on theme, but I need to use them somehow.  Perhaps in a bunting like I saw here at Tree Fall Design a newly discovered blog that is very inspiring indeed!

Sunday paintings - Corner of my Home

I love Soule Mama's  blog and lurk around daily soaking up all her inspiring energy.  She started a Flickr  group called Corners of my Home and this is my first entry.  It is my little group of vintage, amateur paintings.  They all had similar colors and I placed them together at the top of my stairs by a window where they get beautiful morning light.  Everytime I see them, they make me a little happy.

Back to school

Bp_monkey_prodThere is a wonderful little toy store in town that I went to today and found this adorable backpack for Lucia. It's just big enough to carry one of her little friends in. It was so cute that I went home and looked up the website Bla Bla Kids http://www.blablakids.com/index.html. They have amazing things. I wish I could knit that well!

Most of the day however I was glued to CNN and watching what is happening in New Orleans. It is so terribly sad. We have been called to help produce the NYC portion of a telethon to provide relief to Katrina victims. I so glad that Frank and I are blessed to be able to DO something.
